When I stepped into Gharkul, I was not sure what to expect. As I entered, the children greeted ‘Namaste’ with an enlivened enthusiasm. My heart was overwhelmed at first. But one among them, a 10-year-old special child, Saideep, especially reached my heart. He asked me to play peek-a-boo with him in his unique way.
I was not sure what he meant at first, but Gauri explained to me how he expressed himself; his desire to play. Like any child, like us all, he needed love, acceptance and understanding. I saw Gharkul surround him and all students with that and more.
And as we played, my heart was in awe of his liveliness and vibrancy. I was quite amazed at how quickly Gauri and others were able to decipher the way the children expressed themselves. Gharkul has blessed me with a fresh vision to view the uniqueness Saideep and his classmates shared!
